Esther Nippert and Ila Turner went to Hershey, Pa. for a visit with their children and families. Dan and Kim Nippert and Gene and Penny Turner.
I went to Gauley Bridge, WV and met with Nancy Jo Reynolds and a friend Tami Veil, from Charlotte, NC at New River Campground. Terri Reynolds was able to come over after school in the evenings. We had a wonderful time camping, fishing, and just being able to be together.
Esther Nippert, Ila Turner, Lena Fankhauser and Judy Reynolds went to Carrollton. While there we visited Ashton’s 5 and 10 cent store (Ben Franklin’s). Ashton’s Holiday Shoppe, and Ashton Restaurant. The restaurant is a restored Islay’s Restaurant; the owner showed us an old Islay’s Restaurant menu that they had found upstairs (love to have those prices back). There was a notice of minimum wage on the wall with the wage of 40 cents an hour. The Ashton 5 and 10 cent store was featured in the September issue of Country Living Magazine. We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed the beautiful fall colors on the way.
