Mental Health Awareness Month

Jayne A. Devney, Executive Director of the Mental Health and Recovery Board, which serves Monroe, Belmont and Harrison, recently attended the Monroe County Commissioners meeting to proclaim May as Mental Health Awareness Month. Devney said that only one in five people with mental illness seek treatment.

National Board of Emergency Food and Shelter Program announces funding application

The National Board of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program has announced that while funding for the program is currently tied up in Congress, local boards are encouraged to start with the application process. Although funding is not certain, Monroe County has been chosen to receive funding every year since the program’s inception.
