The River Lady Pilots opened their winter sports season on Saturday, November 24th at the new Monroe Central High School. In the first game on the two-toned court, Jenson Caretti jumped at center court and tipped the ball back. However, Monroe Central controlled the tip and gained possession of the ball. River grabbed an early lead, holding it throughout most of the game. They had the lead at the end of the first, second and third quarters, but the Lady Seminoles scored a three-point goal as time expired, closing the gap to six points at the half. The Pilots slowly gave up their lead with a Monroe Central rally in the final minutes. Thankfully, the Lady Pilots regained the lead and weathered the storm, holding out for a 54-53 victory.
