Organizers of the annual Veterans Day ceremony at Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield reported the largest turnout to date this year (Nov. 11) for the ceremony that honors our nation’s heroes.

    The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) recently completed its fall firefighter training series, adding 92 firefighters to the number of first responders that have been trained how to effectively manage and address potential and rare incidents associated with the oil and gas industry.

Local Bluegrass Performers "The Price Sisters" Continue to Garner Attention

    Leanna and Lauren Price of Sardis, who perform as “The Price Sisters,” will once again be featured on national television. This time the girls performed with the director’s band “Mountain Music Ambassadors” at their college, Morehead State University on two separate shows which air on PBS.

Hunting Guide: 2006 Muzzle Loader Hunt WIth Hoskinson Family Comes Up Empty

    The year was 2006, and it was the last drive on the last day of muzzle-loader season. The time was around 4:00 p.m.  as I hunted with the Hoskinson family. Donnie and Chris made the drive and put Matthew, Melissa, me, and Sonny on stand.  Chris told me to get ready, because “when she drives, the deer come out.” And come out, they did!

Westwood Place Veterans Day Program

    The Veterans Program was held on Nov. 11 at 1:00pm at Westwood Place. In attendance were several Woodsfield Elementary students who had written essays entitled “What a Veteran Means to Me,” and several were able to read them at the program. Once students read their essays, they pinned the veterans in attendance with a flag pin.

    The Ohio University Eastern Panthers traveled to Ohio State Mansfield and picked up the win 105-86. The Oanthers came to play leading the way the whole game.
