Record Month In Recorder's Office

The Monroe County Commissioners met for their regular session on Dec. 3 with a light agenda. Recorder Ann Block met with commissioners to announce that November had been a record month for her office, due to lease searches by employees of oil/gas companies. Block said the office had taken in just over $123,000 in copy and recording fees for the month. In comparison, the office took in $123,200 for the entire year in 2010.

Even better news from Block is that $61,574 will go into the general fund from the copy and recording fees. Also going into the general fund will be the $17,900 extended access funds which brings the total general fund contribution from the recorder's office in November to $79,474.

Next on the agenda were Ginny Shrimplin of the County Risk Sharing Authority (CORSA) and Brian Longwell of F.W. Schumacher Insurance (who acts as the local contact for CORSA). Shrimplin brought a Stewardship Report to the commissioners which showed the benefits offered by the company and those that have been taken advantage of by the county in the past three years.
