Emile Weaver, 20, of Clarington was arrested last week and indicted in Muskingum County on four charges, including Aggravated Murder. The legal action against Weaver stems from the April 22 death of a newborn baby girl proven to be Weaver’s daughter. 

Local barn artist Scott Hagan began the painting of the Monroe County Bicentennial barns last week, with the barn of Wade and Donna Groves, located on SR 800 between Woodsfield and Antioch being the first.

The new policy will mean every student athlete in the district will face drug testing as a requirement to participate in athletics. 

Robert and Annalisa Work each indicted on six counts

Robert (Jason) and Annalisa Work were each indicted last week on charges stemming from a June 11 investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. Each face the same six charges, all related to the massive haul of drugs allegedly found by investigators after Mr. Work turned himself in for allegedly committing a crime in West Virginia. 

Accident on SR 556

 A massive crane truck rolled over the hill on SR 556 near the intersection with Cain Ridge Rd. The truck ended up several hundred feet off the roadway and over the hill. The driver was life-flighted due to head injuries but was released from the hospital the next day. Photos by Kim Nalley

 

Riverwoods Animal League to open second store

Riverwoods Animal League is opening a second store in the former Woodsfield High School at 204 South Paul Street,  Woodsfield. They will be featuring furniture, appliances, building and office supplies. All items are used and proceeds will go towards the nonprofit organization. The proceeds will help with opening a program to spay and neuter dogs and cats.
