As Americans have begun to realize the need for active lifestyles, 5K runs have risen in popularity in recent years. This trend has been seen locally as well.

River High School competed in the sixth annual Civics Challenge at West Liberty University, in which 12 area high schools were invited to participate. The trivia competition involved questions from government, geography, history and current politics.

Those traveling near the county lines in recent days may have noticed the new Monroe County Bicentennial signs posted to celebrate the county’s 200th birthday. There are 21 total signs. Most were placed by ODOT on county lines on state routes.
