The Narconon drug education program returned to all Switzerland of Ohio Local School District (SOLSD) schools for the second year last week as educators from the organization made their rounds to every corner of the county.

Replica ships of Christopher Columbus’ ships The Nina and Pinta traveled through Monroe County on Sept. 24. The ships are based in the British Virgin Islands and travel all over the world, including an American tour this summer.

Beallsville High School will celebrate its homecoming on Oct. 2 as the Blue Devils football team faces local rival Hundred at 7 p.m. A parade will take place before the game, and the 2015 Homecoming Queen will be crowned. The Monroe Central Lady Seminoles volleyball team will host its fierce PVC rival Buckeye Trail on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. at home.
