Accidents

Dec. 6, 8 a.m., Jennifer J. Richmond-Johnson, Woodsfield,  was traveling East on SR 78 when she lost control of her 2006 Chevy. The Chevy went across the center line and into the West bound lane. She then proceeded to hit an embankment and the Chevy rolled onto its side. Richmond-Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Wetzel County Hospital for minor injuries. There was severe damage to the Chevy and had to be towed.

Dec. 8, 8:35 p.m., Derek P. Rivera, Chicago, IL, was traveling North on SR 7 in his 2004 Nissan Maxima. Rivera turned left across SR 7 and his Nissan went into a deep ditch. The Nissan had non-functional damage and had to be towed. Rivera was cited with OVI.

Dec. 5, 6:30 a.m., Everatt Cameron Baisden, Beallsville,  was traveling on SR 556 in his white 2005 Dodge Caravan. Baisden went around a turn and lost control of the Dodge and went into a fence and then slid into a tree head on. The airbags didn’t deploy and Baisden was transported to Wetzel County Hospital for injuries. There was disabling damage to the Dodge and had to be towed.

Dec. 5, 1:50 a.m., Brandon J. Craft, Lewisville, was driving his 1991 Toyota PK4 when he swerved off the right side of the road and struck a street sign, drove through an electric fence and struck a tree. The Toyota came to rest in a field against another fence. There was disabling damage to the Toyota and had to be towed.

Dec. 11, 1:01 a.m., Timothy D. Kinney, Lewisville, was traveling on SR 145 towards Lewisville in his 1998 Chevy S10 when three deer ran in front of his vehicle. Kinney stated that he swerved to miss the deer and went through the fence ending up in the creek. There was moderate damage to the S10 and had to be towed. Kinney was cited with failure to control.

Dec. 7, 5:20 p.m., Susan E. Byrd, Summerfield, was traveling West on SR 78 when her 2003 Ford hydroplaned on the wet roadway. The Ford went off the road to the right over an embankment striking a fence and coming to a final rest in a field two tenths of a mile east of SR 379. There was moderate damage to the Ford and had to be towed.

Dec. 5, 12:45 p.m., William Paugh, Reno, was traveling South on SR 26 when his 1988 Mack truck failed to negotiate a curve and went left of center through the guardrail striking the embankment and coming to rest on its left side. There was severe damage to the Mack truck and it had to be towed.
