The push for a new county jail was renewed during the regular session meeting of the Monroe County Commissioners on Jan. 20. In a meeting held between commissioners, Sheriff Charles Black Jr. and Prosecuting Attorney James Peters, a willingness was shown to pursue the project in earnest. 

According to a release from Monroe County Sheriff Charles Black Jr., a previous drug offender was arrested again on Jan. 20 in Clarington for allegedly selling meth. Taken into custody was James “Bo” Hoskins, 32, of Barberton, OH. 

Junior Frye

Junior “Sam” Frye, 83, of Clarington,  died January 21, 2015 at home. He was born January 26, 1931, in New Matamoras, Ohio, the son of the late Samuel George and Laura Pugh Frye.

Sam was a retired school bus driver for Switzerland of Ohio School District and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
