The Beallsville Blue Devils boys basketball team had a successful week that brought them within one game of the .500 mark at a record of 4-5 overall.
On January 4, The Blue Devils went on the road to Bridgeport and left with a tight 67-65 overtime victory. Leading the team in the hard-fought win were Teryn Jarrett who scored 20 including the ever-important last two. Also part of the balanced effort was Tristen Palmer who scored 15 points to go with a powerful performance in the lane that totalled 14 rebounds. Logan Nippert scored 11, Dalton Secrest scored 10, and Kyle Groves grabbed 12 rebounds to round out the winning effort.
Beallsville had an easier time of it on January 5 when they came away with a strong victory over Cameron by a final of 75-58. Teryn Jarrett was once again the team’s scoring leader with 27 points to go with five rebounds. Jarrett had a great game behind the arc going five for eight. Other leading scores included Teryn Jarrett (19), Tristen Palmer (10) and Kyle Groves (10). Leading the team in rebounds was Dalton Secrest with nine.
The Beallsville Lady Blue Devils basketball team had a short week with only one game at home against Barnesville on Jan. 4. Beallsville looked poised to win the game as they went into the fourth quarter with a commanding 14 point lead. However, the Shamrocks mounted a huge comeback, outscoring Beallsville 21-7 in the fourth quarter. After the fourth quarter collapse, the Lady Blue Devils eventually fell in overtime by a score of 45-42.
