Changes have abounded on the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District (SOLSD) Board of Education recently with two new members elected in last November’s general election. More changes are coming with the resignation of Board Member Justin Isaly. 

OSU Extension is happy to announce Cheryl Goodrich as the new Monroe County 4-H and Youth Development Educator. The position was previously held by Bruce Zimmer who served the county for 27 years.

Giveaway Winners

Modern Home and Hardware recently held their annual open house. The lucky winners of the giveaway were Barb Williams, who  won the YETI hopper. Margie Yoss won the Stihl trimmer. And Taylor Harmon, Pat Raper, Diane Shriver and Zachery Siegal won YETI ramblers. Not pictured is Pat Raper. 

Monroe County’s rating for bond issuance discussed

Correction - In last week’s commissioners’ report it was stated that Commissioner Carl Davis said the USDA was holding up the jail project. Commissioner Davis actually said “things with the USDA aren’t progressing as quickly as we’d like.” Davis also said a pre-bid meeting was upcoming on the 28th, not that “three bids” were coming up on that date.

Perfect Season

The River Pilot’s 11 and 12 year old baseball team finished the season with a perfect record of 15-0. They won the league championship game by a score of 10-0 over New Martinsville. They have definitely made their coaches, parents and fans very proud of them. Pictured above in the front row: Brayden Strawn, River Thompson, Kolten Tennley.

Softball Champs

The Beallsville 12U softball team was recently crowned as champions of the Monroe County League after defeating River in the championship by a final of 11-10. Pictured, front row, from left, are: Shyann Baker, Kaylee Ferguson, Emily Crooks and Renzi Decker.
