Live your life so you don’t have to hide it in a diary. The greatest of all faults is to think that we have none.
Snow, I hope you snow birds are happy now. I’d guess we’ve had more snow so far than we had all last year. I can recall enjoying a snow fall but not any more. Yuck!! Do you remember how we used to make ice cream out of new fallen snow? You had to watch out you didn’t get yellow snow. I wonder if anyone makes snow ice cream any more? Just look outside and say, “Beautiful morning”.
Sometimes due to my poor writing things do not sound right. Last week was one. Last week it said we butchered our beef during Christmas time. I said we hung around on the back porch. The round is a part of a cut-up beef. Mainly from a back leg. I should have said we hung a back leg on the porch and gone from there. It was still good eating.
What a way to celebrate New Year’s eve. We normally have a mess of ribs, sauerkraut, watch TV and the big ball drop in New York City and go to bed. I also remember several of the fellows shooting their shotguns in the air to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.
Where was I when all of this was going on this year? On my back on a hospital bed, no ribs to chew on. I did watch TV most of the evening but I switched it off thinking I might get a wink of sleep. Wrong! A nurse came in wanting more blood. I asked if it was 2013 yet. She said there was still fifteen minutes until the ball dropped. I turned the TV back on and watched the ball drop starting 2013. I got to see the ball drop after all but still no ribs.
Time spent in a hospital is not the most fun thing you can think of. I’ve only experienced this a couple or three times.
