Monroe Central Freshman Girls Win Zanesville Tournament

The Monroe Central freshmen girls basketball team were recently crowned champions of a freshman girls’ tournament. The tournament won by the Lady Seminoles was the Ohio University Zanesville Freshmen Holiday Tournament held at Tri-Valley High School on Dec. 22-January 2.

Monroe Central competed in the small schools division with schools from all over the eastern part of the state. Their division included a three-round competition amongst eight teams.

The girls’ first game proved to be their biggest challenge. They were able to squeak through with a 32-28 four-point win against Licking Valley in the opening match-up.
