The New Mat Red Hat Gals enjoyed a New Year’s ‘Dress Down’ movie night on Jan. 10. Sisters Debbie Swallow and Dianna Evans hosted the evening with the movie, “The Proposal”, pizza, popcorn and lots of munchies. Prize winners were Teri Masters, Maybell Browne, also the birthday girls and Sheila Langsdorf, Marilyn Tilton. Others attending were Sue Altizer, Teresa Mercer, Gina Williams, Vivian Dye, Dorothy Hendricks, Nancy Petty, Sherry Kirkbride, Judy Cunningham and Jean Smith. February meeting will be 50s night, dress accordingly and bring a Valentine.

Carl Weckbacher, 97, of Beach City, died Dec. 31, 2012. Carl had lived in Rinard Mills in 1933 and worked as a clerk for  Poulton Brothers General Merchandise Store. Carl enjoyed reading the local news of the Beacon. Carl’s sister is June Mobberly of Devola, formerly of the famed Yellow House at #260-Co.9.

Rev. Frank Conley, 84, of Sardis died Jan. 12. He had served the Rinard Mills UM Charge.

Raymond Williamson, 86, died Jan. 13. He was a local fellow growing up south of Rinard Mills, a cousin to the above Carl Weckbacher.
