The Monroe County Care Center/BrandyWoods Assisted Living has a new management firm after months of a temporary administration. Signing management agreement with the Monroe County Commissioners on Feb. 11 was Progressive Health Care Systems of Urbana.

The new agreement puts an end to a situation that began on Aug. 17, 2012. At that time, commissioners passed a motion to terminate the contract with then MCCC/BrandyWoods administrator Kelly Hill and her management company, Templeton Healthcare Management. The commissioners, in the same emergency session, voted to put Constance Eyman and her company Leaderstat in place as administrators of the care center on an interim basis. The original thirty-day contract was extended frequently until a replacement management firm could be found.

After several weeks of negotiations and plenty of on-site visits, commissioners made the decision on Feb. 6 during an emergency session to sign a management contract with Progressive Health Care Systems. The contract has an initial term of two years with automatic renewal if a termination notice is not received within 60 days of the renewal date.
