Marjorie Baumberger, accompanied by Beverly, Fred and Lamar Anderson attended the annual meeting of Ohio's Appalachian Country on Friday,February 1st. The meeting was held at the new Event Barn of Bob Evans Farms, Rio Grande, Ohio. Much discussion centered around ARC's developing a tourist guide in partnership with American Heritage Publishing. ARC will solicit nominations in early 2013 for destinations that best represent the food and farm experience in the Appalachian region. The goal is to maximize the revenue stream for travel and tourism related businesses in Appalachia and diversify local economies while offering travelers experiences that are both enjoyable and distinctive. The cultural heritage tourism sector has been growing twice as fast as the overall travel market. OAC's "Spotlight on Travel" show will be held March 23rd at the Tuttle Crossing Mall in Dublin, Ohio. It is a one-day show where hopefully each of the 32 Appalachian Counties will be represented with a table promoting their area.
