The Beallsville Blue Devils boys basketball team fought strong in the OVAC tournament with a slim opening round loss. After falling to the consolation round, the Blue Devils were able to claim third place.
The Blue Devils began their week with a face-off against number one seed Bishop Donahue in the OVAC tournament on Feb. 12. Bishop Donahue jumped out early with a 23-17 lead after one quarter and a 41-30 lead at half-time. However, Beallsville fought back and closed the gap to 52-47 on the strength of outscoring Bishop Donahue 17-11 in the third quarter. In the end, their comeback fell short, and Bishop Donahue won by a final of 73-66.
Beallsville senior Teryn Jarrett led all scorers in a dominating performance with 32 points. Dalton Secrest and Logan Nippert both led the supporting effort with nine points each. Kyle Groves added eight points, Chase Mercer added five, and Tristan Palmer added three to round out the scoring effort.
