| Monroe Central High School art student, Laycie Ball is shown holding her painting “Waiting For a True Heart”. Laycie won a blue ribbon, a $100 gift card, and her teacher, Julia Morris, won a $100 educational grant in the Eighth Annual Cleveland Clinic Expressions Art Program. This is an interdisciplinary program that utilizes the arts to engage high school students in the world of scientific research. Through project-based, peer-to-peer learning, students produce creative interpretations of research conducted by Cleveland Clinic summer interns. Laycie’s painting is on display in the 2013 Cleveland Clinic Expressions Art and Language Exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art through March.
