Most proud grandparents put their grandchildren’s artwork on the refrigerator, but for Dick and Jeri Clegg of Clarington, that would be impossible since their grandson, 11 year-old Levi Heimbaugh of Newport, Pennsylvania, recently became a billboard artist.

In late September, the Newport Elementary School fifth grader and son of Jeff and Wendy Heimbaugh learned that the Orrstown Bank was having a holiday card contest for children aged twelve and under. The winner of the contest would have his or her artwork made into a Christmas card that would be used by the bank’s twenty-one locations. The winner would also take home a $200 prize.

According to Wendy, “Levi’s eyes were literally dancing with all the possibilities!” In a blog post, Wendy described Levi’s creative journey: “Having less than a week before the deadline, [Levi] spread out his supplies at the big kitchen table. He listened to Christmas music while drawing a few possibilities... He completed his artwork just hours before the midnight deadline”.
