|Commissioners Receive Update From Buckeye Hills|

The Monroe County Commissioners met on Feb. 25 for a meeting that was largely uneventful. Of the three scheduled appointments, the most eventful was that with Misty Casto of Buckeye Hills-Hocking Valley Regional Development District and Area Agency on Aging 8.
Casto gave commissioners an update on benefits of their membership in 2012. According to Casto’s update, “For every one dollar in dues, Monroe County received $756 in grants and services through Buckeye Hills-HVRDD/AAA8.” Some of the work accomplished through Buckeye Hills in 2012 included receiving an Appalachian Regional Commission grant in the amount of $100,000 for an access road to DOVES; receiving an Ohio Public Works Commission grant in the amount of $397,911 for resurfacing on CRs 41, 45 and 85; and supplying a local business with a $75,000 loan from the Revolving Loan Fund which supported three jobs.
