Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dearth Celebrate 40th Anniversary PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dearth In 2013...Jim and Sue Dearth celebrated their 40 year anniversary on Apr. 15 at Homes With a View Suite at Millersburg. Jim and Sue are the parents of two daughters, April Dearth of Westerville and Abby (Justin) Friday of Woodsfield; grandparents of Jaren Austin Friday. Jim and Sue live in Woodsfield.

In 1973...Miss Brenda Sue Jones and James W. Dearth were united in marriage Apr. 15. A double ring ceremony was performed at half after one o’clock in the afternoon by Minister J.V.A. Traylor at his home on Eastern Avenue, Woodsfield.

Bridesmaid was Fay Haslam of Beallsville, friend of the bride. Carl Davis of Lewisville, a friend of the bridegroom, served as best man.

 
Betts Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Betts Russell Gene and Mary Joyce (Kuhn) Betts of Lewisvville, are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 4.

Russell and Mary Joyce were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on May 4, 1963. Russell served in the National Guard in the early ‘60s at Fort Knox, Kentucky; and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The couple has lived in Lewisville for the past 50 years.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Snow Celebrate First Anniversary PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Snow Chante` Nichole and Daniel Michael Snow are celebrating their first anniversary. Chante` and Daniel were united in marriage April 21, 2012 at St. Edward Catholic Church, Little Rock, Arkansas with  Fr. Jason Tyler as celebrant. Entwined in the bride’s bouquet was a rosary which once belonged to her father’s great-grandmother. She wore a small gold ring which was her maternal great-great-grandmother’s.

Amanda Blanco, close friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Kala Amato and Tara Wittenburg, also friends of the bride. Serving as best man was Aaron Nicholson with groomsmen Matt Ellison and Brent Taylor, all friends of the bridegroom. Scripture readers included Susan Yonak, great-aunt of the bride; and Chelsey and Lindsey Castrodale, friends of the bride. Hannah Yonak, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. Ring bearer was Samuel Howard, a friend of the bride.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at Little Rock’s Curran Hall with a vintage rustic theme carried out. The tables were decorated with beautiful floral arrangements and old family photos displayed in antique frames.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller Celebrate Golden Anniversary PDF Print E-mail

 

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller Earl E. and Helen Marie Miller of Clarington celebrated their Golden Anniversary on April 6th.  Earl is the son of the late Harry D. and Jessie Miller, and Marie is the daughter of the late Helen and Russell Wiley.  They were united in marriage April 6, 1963 in Woodsfield by the late J.V.A. Traylor, minister.

Earl and Marie are the parents of three sons:  Michael (Karen) Miller of Xenia, David (Angela) Miller of Baltimore, OH, and Roger (Angela) Miller of Clarington.  They have also been blessed with five grandchildren:  Nathan Miller of Xenia; Susan Miller of Baltimore; and Coty, Cayliana, and Caleb Miller of Clarington.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rush Celebrate 50th PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rush Paul and Patricia Rush of Miltonsburg celebrated their fifty year anniversary. Paul and Patricia were united in marriage at St. John the Baptist Church on Feb. 16, 1963. Rev. John E. Costalow performed the ceremony.

The maid of honor was Mary Ruth (Ankrom) Rush and the best man was Larry Gallagher.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Hines Celebrate 70th PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Hines Ellis G. and Vera L. McGarry Hines will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on Feb. 27.

Ellis is the son of the late Clemet and Margaret Jane Winland Hines and Vera is the daughter of the late Edward and Orabel Hickenbotham McGarry.  The couple were blessed with four daughters, Betty (Clyde) King, and Sharon Scott of Lewisville; Robin (Joe) Bishop of Woodsfield and the late Sue E. Hines; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family is requesting a card shower to honor this special event. Cards can be sent to 99 Poplar St., Woodsfield 43793.

 
Rings Celebrate 60th Anniversary PDF Print E-mail

 

Paul and Helen Ring in 1953 Paul and Helen Marie (Weber) Ring, Woodsfield, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 14, having been married since 1953 in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Woodsfield.

The couples’ four children, Paula Ring, Marc and wife Helen Kay, Matthew and partner Greg Woods and Andrew and wife Lori will host a private family dinner for the couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Williamson Celebrate 65th PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Williamson Everette and Merle Williamson celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Jan. 5. They were married in Chatsworth, Georgia by the Rev. J.W. Dooly in 1948.

Everette and Merle were born and raised in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. They were married and all three children were born in Tennessee where they lived until they moved North where Everette worked for 45 years at Ormet Corporation.

Merle and her family are pictured in the “Smokey Mountain Family Album”, a genealogy of Smoky Mountain Families by the author Gladys Trentham Russell.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Smithberger Celebrate 50th PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Smithberger Edgar and Hazel Smithberger of Lower Salem route will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Thanksgiving Day Nov. 22.

They were married at St. Henry’s Catholic Church on Nov. 22, 1952 by Rev. M.A. McNicholas.

Edgar is the son of the late Alex and Leona Wallace Smithberger. Hazel is the daughter of the late James and Ollie Doan Schafer.

They have four sons: Raymond Sr. (Connie) Smithberger of Graysville, James Sr. (Lynne) Smithberger of Lower Salem route. John David Smithberger, Sr. of Marietta, Michael (Debbie) Smithberger of Canyon, Texas; 11 grandchildren and one deceased; three step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

 
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Briggs Celebrate 50th PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Briggs Dean and Carol Piatt Briggs will celebrate 50 years of marriage. They were united in marriage on Oct. 13, 1962 in Woodsfield by the late J.V.A. Traylor. They built their house on Maple Ave. where they still reside today. Dean retired from Westbank Harbor Services and Carol retired from Riesbeck’s last year.

Dean is the son of Mamie Sulsberger Briggs of Woodsfield and the late C. Everett (Pickle) Briggs. Carol is the daughter of the late Gene and Ruth Smith Piatt.

Dean and Carol extended their family with two boys and four grandchildren. Their oldest son Rich and wife Barb Briggs of Woodsfield blessed them with two grandchildren, Travis Briggs and Renea Briggs. Their younger son Jeff and his wife Jenny of Mount Vernon also blessed them with two grandchildren, Greg and Kaitlynn Briggs.
