Bier Takes Third Place in Wrestling State Championships PDF Print E-mail

Marshal Bier receives his medal on the podium after placing third place in the state. Marshal Bier, a third grade student from Beallsville Elementary, took third place at the 2014 Ohio Grade School State Wrestling Championships in Youngstown. The tournament took place on March 15 and 16 at the Covelli Centre.

Grade school wrestlers from all over the state participated. In order to qualify, students must achieve a fourth place or higher placement at an Ohio district tournament. Marshal received first place in Division II 120 lbs. at the grade school district at Glen Oak High School in Canton. He then fought his way through the state tournament by winning three matches. Two matches by pin and one in the quarter finals with a score of 9-6. Marshal then took a loss in the semifinals to the first place tournament winner which landed him in the semi consolation which he won with a score of 7-0. Marshal placed third in the next round with a win of 8-4. Marshal ends the 2014 wrestling season with a record of 29-1.

Ohio University Eastern ladies basketball players (pictured l-r)  Chelsie Roberts, Jaclyn Johnson and Kelsey Holloway were recently honored by the Ohio Regional Campus Conference as All-ORCC. Holloway, a junior from Shadyside, was named to the first team, while high school teammate Jaclyn Johnson and Monroe Central’s Chelsie Roberts were named to the second team. The Panthers finished the season 17-5 under first-year coach Adam Perzanowski.
