Clayton Crum

Clayton Eugene Crum, 84, of Jerusalem, died Friday, May 10, 2013 in UPMC Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 29, 1928 near Beallsville a son of the late Roscoe and Freda Howell Crum.

He was a retired employee of the former CONALCO plant near Hannibal, a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of American Legion Post 768, Sunsbury Lodge 362, and OES 24.

In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Mercer Crum on December 15, 1996, an infant daughter, Tama Lodena; two brothers, Chalmer and Bernard Crum; three sisters, Velma Hickman, Hazel Jenewein, and Zella Caldwell.


 

Surviving are four sons, Reggie (Marlene) Crum of South Carolina, Brent (Pat) Crum, Brian "Buck" Crum (Sylvia Bowen), and Shawn (Renee) Crum, all of Beallsville; a daughter, Thalia (Tod) Kahrig of Miltonsburg; a brother, Gerald (Nellie) Crum of Beallsville; four sisters, Joan Decker and Freda May Barkheimer of Massilon, Donna Ruth (Bill) Kettering of Malvern, and Patty Lou (Eugene) VanDyne of Beallsville; 11 grandchildren Holli and Brian Crum, Tenice Decker, Talisa Crum, Tiffany Woodell, Brianna McConnell, Amanda Crum, Quinn, Alona, and Gavin Kahrig, and Pazeley Crum; eight great grandchildren, Beth Sexton, Carter McConnell, Mathen and Tayla Decker, Rylan Kinzy, Nylie Woodell, Liana and Haydn Bullington.

Visitation was held Monday, May 13th at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where funeral services were held Tuesday, May 14th at 11 AM with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating.

Interment followed in Beallsville Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 768.  Masonic services were conducted May 13 at the funeral home.

Robert E. Ricer, 93, of Sylvania, Ohio and formerly of Cygnet, Ohio,  died at Sunset Village, Sylvania. He was born on December 13, 1919, in Monroe County, Ohio, to the late Fred and Sarah (Moore) Ricer. He married Lucille McEwen on June 20, 1959, and she died in 1998.

He is survived by his daughters: Charlotte (Richard) Lauer and Rebecca Haberkamp, both of Sylvania; his granddaughter, Amanda (Dan) Ogren; his great-granddaughters, Audrey Lucille and Ali Ogren; his granddaughter, Holly Haber-kamp and great-granddaughters, Lily and Mia Haberkamp  all of Toledo; his sister Clara Lee Leasure  of Woodsfield.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his brothers: Bill, Fred, Raymond, Bernard and Don Ricer; his sister, Dorothy White; his son-in-law, Lee Haberkamp and his grandson, Gregory Haberkamp.


 

He retired from Buckeye Pipeline. Following his retirement, he worked for the Village of Cygnet. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served our country in World War II. He was a member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539, V.F.W. and F.O.E. in Woodsfield. Robert was a member of the Cygnet Faith United Methodist Church.

Visitation was May 13 at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore, Ohio,  where funeral services were held May 14, with Pastor Dean Durant officiating. Burial was in Jerry City Cemetery, Portage Township, where full military rites were conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539 and/or Cygnet Faith United Methodist Church.

Christal Moore Christal Kay Moore, 62, also known by many as Chris Moore of Beallsville, Ohio and formerly of Fitchville, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 from complications of end stage liver disease. She spent her final days at home with her loving husband of 40 years, Ray Moore, and went peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born September 2, 1950 in New London, daughter of the late Kenneth B. (Kenny) and Alberta “Bertie” (Blair) Campbell.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend.   She loved being with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, having big gatherings, traveling, camping and making everyone around her feel like they were the most important person in the room. Christal has been ill for sometime.   Although her sudden passing was unexpected, when she was able, she continued to let her beautiful smile shine through her pain. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.  She will be our angel in heaven while she is watching over us with her dearly missed and beloved son Michael and her loved ones.


 

She is survived by her husband, Ray Moore; their children, Kristy Kay (Jeff) Potter of Lewisville, Stacy Rena Lewis and fiancé Daniel Ray Miller of Beallsville, Steven Ray (Debbie) Moore of Plymouth, Ohio;  many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her sister, Carol Laverne (Dennis) Cutcher of Clarksfield, Ohio, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Ray Moore in 1994; siblings, Charles A. Oney, Christine (Teenie) Gemmle, William (Billy) Oney, Phylis King, Janet Boss, Roger Oney, Barbera (Pauline) Flemming.

Friends were received May 9. Services were held on May 10 at Eastman Funeral Home, New London, with Pastor Delmer Bailey officiating.  

Burial followed at Fitchville Cemetery.

Margaret Dornbusch Margaret Helen Tober Dornbusch, 86, died peacefully on May 5, 2013 in Richmond, Virginia, surrounded by family. She died from complications of lung cancer after a short illness.

Born on December 15, 1926, she was known as Margie to her family. She was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, the youngest of Ernst and Emma (Selnau) Tober’s six children. Her parents both emigrated as teenagers from Germany and lived in a close-knit immigrant community. Her father owned a bakery on Payne Avenue in Cleveland and the family lived above the shop.

She graduated from Ohio University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching and the nickname Toby. While at college, she met her husband, Paul Edgar Dornbusch of Antioch, Ohio. They were married on July 15, 1950.

Paul’s career at General Electric brought them briefly to Ft. Wayne, Indiana before they were transferred to Schenectady, New York. There, Toby taught elementary school until the birth of their first child, Kathy. Afterwards, she devoted herself to full-time motherhood. Toby and Paul relocated to Roanoke, Virginia in 1955, where they lived for the next 36 years and where their children Sue, Jim, Jane, Dana and Andrew were born and raised. After Andrew started school, Toby returned to teaching, serving many years as a substitute teacher in the Roanoke City and County elementary schools.

Holley Mobley

Holley E. Mobley, age 79, of Big Prairie, OH passed away Thursday May 9, 2013 at his residence.  He was born April 7, 1934 Beallsville to Wayne D. and Sylvia L. (Pittman) Mobley and married Fran Mcdougal Feb. 8, 1959.

He was currently employed as an assemblyman at WalMart in Wooster. When Holley was in his younger years he was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are a lifelong friend of 55 years, Fran Dillon of Big Prairie, two children, Kent (Donna) Mobley of Winesburg and Teresa (Tim) Brubaker of Wooster, six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, three brothers, Starling “Doc” (DeJong) Mobley of Ashville, Robert (Charolette) Mobley and Harold (Barbara) Mobley both of Beallsville, and a sister Christina Burrows of Massillon.


 

He was preceded by his parents.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 13 at Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, OH with Pastor Rob Martin officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 12 from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Ripley Cemetery where military rites will be observed.
