Don and Jo Ann Harmon

Don and Jo Ann Harmon, Woodsfield, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2014. They obtained their marriage license at a courthouse in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, then proceeded to a Baptist Church in Townsend, Tennessee. They knocked on the parsonage door and asked the pastor to marry them then spent their honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. That's how they have led their lives; simple, honest with a Christian demeanor.

Don is the son of the late Campbell and Irene Harmon, Maryville, Tennessee. He is retired from Ormet.

Jo Ann is the daughter of the late Gus and Loche Hunt, Tellico Plains, Tennessee. She is a retired registered nurse from Barnesville Hospital.

Graysville Alumni Reunion

Father’s Day weekend in June is busy. The schools all seem to favor the Saturday before Father’s Day for  alumni meetings; Frontier, New Matamoras, Woodsfield and Graysville. Since NJ attended Graysville (1922-1958), this one will be the topic.

Welcoming alumni signs lined the lane. NJ’s class of 1955 forgot to attend again this year. Hey, next year is our 60th. Graysville fire ladies served 71 people at a noontime meal. President Wilma Anderson Whitacre and the officers, Clara Blair Saffle, Betty Gardner Eddy, Betty Hall Anderson and Yvonne Cline Weckbacher, planned a nice day and it was beautiful. A sing along was held with pianist Pat Harmon Cline; song leaders were Dwight and Darlene Norris Ring. Deceased class members were, Eileen Heddleson Ring, Tom Grey, Mervyn Junior Lisk, Glenn Mann, Betty Schmidt Christy, Willene Lovett Rappenchuk, Boyd Ring, Verne Lee Scott, Evelyn Highman Cline, Ruby Poulton Briggs and Lester Dale Antill.
