Paul Benjamin “Benny” Hupp, 79, of Sardis, Ohio, (Trail Run Community), peacefully passed from this world into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 28, 2025, surrounded by his family. His warm and infectious smile will never be forgotten. Benny was born to Carl and Irene Hupp on July 7, 1945, and graduated from New Matamoras High School. He met and married the love of his life, Karen Sue Reese, on September 6, 1965. They were married for 58 years.
Benny proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. After returning from the service, Benny worked and ultimately retired from Ormet after 36 years. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Church-Trail Run.
After retirement Benny was often around the farm, taking care of his horses, wood working, fixing any number of things, playing corn hole, or off on an ornery adventure with his long time friend Dennis Piatt. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family playing cards, board games, and was happiest around his grandchildren where he was known as “Papaw” or “Pap” and was always attending one of their many activities, as their number one fan.
Benny was preceded in death by his wife Karen Hupp, father Carl Hupp, mother Irene Hupp and two great-grandchildren Nora Marjorie Lyons and Baby Lyons.
He is survived by his son Joseph (Susan) Hupp of Lowell, Ohio, daughter Julie (Jim) Wojcik of Vincent, Ohio, grandchildren Micayla (Andrew) Lyons, Cameron and Bodie Hupp, Ty and Lakyn Ellenwood, Victoria, Grace and Gabby Wojcik, great-granddaughter Clara Kay Lyons and one sister, Mary Edith Hutchison.
Friends will be received from 1 – 3 and 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, March 7 at Hadley Funeral Home, 700 Main Street, New Matamoras, Ohio. Funeral services with full Military Honors will be on Saturday March 8 at 11 a.m. at Hadley Funeral Home with burial service to follow at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery-Trail Run, Joe Frobish Road, Sardis, OH 43946.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriver’s Hospice, P.O. Box 3506 Zanesville, OH 43701 or the United States Veterans in Benny’s memory. Online condolences may be made at hadleyfh.com.
