James M. Strahl, 83 of Pine Run Estates, Ocala, Florida, formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away on February 16, 2025 at E. W. & Lucille Cates House in Ocala, Florida. He was born July 19, 1941 to the late John Strahl and Mary Conway Strahl.
 He was a United States Army Veteran, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. One of his favorite memories of the Army was being stationed with Elvis in Germany.
 Jim and Ruth spent several days a year fishing while in Ohio. They caught enough fish to have family and friends fish Frys. He spent lots of time on the golf course, especially after retiring from Ohio Valley Coal Company #6 mine and moving to Florida. He received a plaque for a Hole in One.
 On October 30, 1971, he married the love of his life Ruth E. (Catlett) Strahl and spent the rest of his life making her happy.
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Mary M. Strahl, grandson Alex Mullen, great granddaughter Aubree E. Rieck, great grandson Carter L. Rieck, brother John and sisters, Sandy and Patty.
 Left to honor and remember his life are his wife of 53 years Ruth E. Strahl, son John (Mary) Rieck, daughter Robin (Mike) Mullen, brother, Ron (Barb) Strahl, grandchildren, John (Chelsea) Rieck, James (Kaitlyn) Rieck, Kristie (Mike) Ailiff, Jennifer (Walt) Evans, Dawn (Tyler Kinney) Robinson, Tatyanna (Brady) Crum, great grandchildren, Hunter, Chase, Connor, Kenzie, Jackson, Carlee, Gage, Gabby, Gianna and Gracelynn Rieck, Daelynn and Layla Crum, Briar and Clay Hamilton, Trinity Mahoney, Olivia and Erit Dalrymple, Matthew, Jensen, and Logan Robinson.
 After retiring and moving to Florida, he made many new friends. He was active in senior games, helping prepare dinners, attending dances and other social events.
 You may not have always agreed with him but you always knew what his opinion was.
 In his last days in the hospital when ask to tell me something about you, his answers were married over 50 years, I love my wife and I love my family.
 Though out his life, his love for his family was always there. In the end he wanted there to be no doubt how much he loved his family. Thank you for being the dad that you didn’t have to be. You have left a hole that can’t be filled in many lives, you will be missed.
 Honoring his wishes there was no service. He had a soft spot in his heart for St. Jude.
