William Thurman Thomas, 85 of Woodsfield, passed away at his home early Sunday morning, Dec. 11, 2022.

He was born July 7, 1937 in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Thurman and Mildred Thomas.

He retired from Ormet in 1989, but was a lifelong farmer at Willenda Farms. Bill was a member of the Laings Church of Christ, President of the Monroe Water Systems, long-term member of the Farm Bureau, and agent of Monroe Soil & Water, along with being a member of many other agriculture organizations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Jeffery A. Thomas; and daughterin- law, Lynnette Starr Thomas; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy (Dale) Peterson, Joyce (Don) Dalebout, Ellen (Darryl) Brubaker, and Sally (Preston) Bartholic.

He is survived by his wife Glenda Ridgeway Thomas, who he married Sept. 17, 1960; son, William “Billy” (Vickie) Thomas, of Old Washington; daughters, Teresa (John) Simkins, of Springfield, and Gail (Steve) Zwick, of Lower Salem; daughter-inlaw, Kelly (Dan) Isaly, of Woodsfield; grandchildren, Laken (Korey) Piatt, of Woodsfield, Allee Zwick, of Lower Salem, Hunter Thomas, of Woodsfield, Alexis Thomas, of Columbus; great-grandson, Beau Piatt; close niece, Stacey (JC, Jeffery & Dessie), of Woodsfield; and many other nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield. Funeral service viewing at 10 a.m. with service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at the Laings Church of Christ, 44191 State Route 255, Woodsfield, with Andrew Beasley and Sam Bartrug officiating. Burial will follow in the West Union Cemetery, near Sardis.
