Douglas Vance Bever Jr., age 70 of New Matamoras, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. 

He was born in Marietta, Dec. 25, 1952, a son of the late Douglas and Mary Lou Rosenlieb Bever Sr.

Doug had worked at many jobs, including construction, coal miner in West Virginia and then became a caregiver at Stellar Care Center for many years. He loved his dogs and enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Jamie Bever and Carol Hilverding; and one sister, Beverly Bowers.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane Bever; son, Hunter Bever, of New Matamoras; daughter Hannah Bever, of New Matamoras; and granddaughter, Carter Daugherty.

Friends were received Monday, May 1, 2023, and Tuesday, May 2, 2023, until the time of funeral services at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield, with Rusty Atkinson officiating. Burial followed in the New Matamoras Cemetery.
