Ray “Bill” William Roth, age 87, of Hannibal, passed away at WVU Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, West Virginia on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Hannibal, son of the late Charles S. and Emma (Holpp) Roth.
He was a United States Army veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. Bill retired after 44 years of service as a steelworker at Conalco/Ormet. While there, he was a Union committeeman and substance counselor. Bill was a member of the Hannibal Methodist Church, American Legion Post 760, Hannibal, and VFW Post 9930, Duffy. Bill’s grandchildren were very important to him; he was always there for them. He was a die-hard Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeye fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Virginia Dierkes, Mabel Roth, Hazel Kavanas, Iva Huffman and Susie Shockley; and three brothers, Robert, Charles “Chick” and Jack Roth.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Sunday, July 2, “Minnie” Roth; a daughter, Raychelle (Michael) McCullough, of Hannibal; three granddaughters, Maquel McCullough, Felicia (Bryan) Crozier and Cassidy (Dylan) Kimble; one great-granddaughter, Sunday Crozier; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
