Creed Allen Grayam Sr. passed away Oct. 27, 2023. He was 90 years young.
He was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Monroe County, a son of the late Clarence Earl and Lula Friesel Grayam.
He worked at Weirton Steel, passing on his coined phrase “Can’t Work, Can’t Stay” for generations. He also worked for Columbia/ Mountaineer Gas for 43 years. He enjoyed dirt track and NASCAR Racing, gardening, but most of his pleasure was socializing with family and friends. He was a good man that helped many and was loved by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Corrine Yvonne; a daughter, Katrina (Sherrell) Daugherty; two sons, Creed Allen Grayam Jr. and Kyle G. Grayam; a brother, Clarence Jr.; and a special friend, Shirley Delangus.
Survivors include his partner, Carol McIntire; a daughter, Martha Grayam, and a son, Melvin (Nancy) Grayam, both of Clarington; seven grandchildren, Brian (Jacque) Daugherty, of Jerusalem, Yolanda (James Crumm) Daugherty, of Clarington, Cheryl Daugherty, of Lewisville, Myles Daugherty, of Cameron, Allen and Gary Grayam, of Clarington, and Ciara (Richard Brown III) Barnes, of Jerusalem; two brothers, James, of Waynesburg, and Robert “Bob”, of Clarington; and a sister, Luella Haslam, of Clarington. He had nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr., Clarington, where services will be held on at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2023.
Interment will follow at Clarington, Cemetery, Clarington.
