Edward L. Vargo, 79, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital, Wheeling, W.V. He was born in Ohio October 9, 1944.
 He was a graduate of Shaw High School, and was a 20 year veteran of the United States Airforce. He received many decorations and citations in the Air Force, including Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, AF outstanding unit award with three Oak Leaf clusters, AF Good conduct medal with five Oak Leaf clusters. Edward was a member of Assumption Catholic Church at Barnesville, Ohio.
 He is survived by his wife Merry Meilander Vargo of Woodsfield, two sons Tom Vargo of Woodsfield and Ron Vargo of Somerton, Ohio, four grandchildren Troy, Trisha, Katie and Christopher, and four great-grandchildren Lila, Ryan, Nash and Jane.
 Family and close friends will be received from 9 until 10 a.m. Friday, November 17 at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Assumption Catholic Church Barnesville, Ohio with Father Dave Cornett officiating. Burial will follow in Assumption Catholic Cemetery Barnesville with full military graveside service conducted by the Beallsville American Legion Post 768.
