Angel Mae Brown Lumbatis, 83 of Lewisville passed away May 1, 2024, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV. She was born November 4, 1940, in Martins Ferry, OH – the daughter of the late Paul Franklin Brown and Norma Nichols Brown.
Angel was a 1958 graduate of Brilliant High School and studied at the Ruth Brandt School of Nursing in Martins Ferry, OH. She married Gale Erlen Lumbatis on April 30, 1960, and the couple settled on Buckeye Hill near Lewisville. She was a retired seamstress and nanny to Kyle Yoho & Jimmy Stimpert.
Angel was a longtime Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director at the First Baptist Church of Woodsfield. As an avid reader, she was a Friends of the Library member. As a Monroe County Health Council member, she helped secure funding for a new clinic. While raising six children, she supported Woodsfield Band Boosters, PTO and served as a 4-H Club Advisor. Angel enjoyed arts & crafts-jewelry making, ceramics and crochet. Her black raspberry jelly was the best in Monroe County. (Just ask her grandkids!)
Angel is survived by her brother Dustin Brown of Rayland, OH, her sister Twana Biram of Raleigh, NC, her sons Kurt Lumbatis of Atlanta, GA & Jason Lumbatis (Kristy Rothenbuhler) of Lewisville, OH, her daughters Paige Liniger of Pittsburgh, PA, Karina Gross (Sterling) of Cincinnati, OH, Tara Chmura of Atlanta, GA & Gwynn Stewart (Ken) of Woodsfield, OH.
In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Paul Liniger, Betsy Liniger, Tessa Weisenborn, Christopher & Abigail Lumbatis, Sara Jackson & Benjamin Gross, Nicholas & Zachary Chmura, Rob Stewart, Katie Cooper, and Jadyn Stewart and her great grandchildren Jenner & Jessa Stewart, Jaedyn & Ava Cooper, and Oaklee Sue Jackson.
Friends will be received Friday, May 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, and Saturday May 4, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church SBC, 114 N. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio with Stephen Hopkins officiating. Private burial will follow the funeral service at Friendship Cemetery Lewisville, Ohio.
