Hillis Jenewein, 85, of Beallsville and a lifelong resident of the community of New Castle in Belmont County passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in the Arbors at Woodsfield. He was born June 9, 1938, on the family farm, a son of the late Vernon Jenewein and Norma Morris Jenewein Hagan. Hillis was a retired employee of the former CONALCO plant near Hannibal, however in his heart and mind, he never retired from the vocation that he loved, farming. Hillis had served in the Army Reserves. He was also a member of the Cattlemen’s Association, American Legion Post 768, and Lodge 1304 Loyal Order of Moose, Barnesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Neal Jenewein. Left to honor his memory are a niece, Lisa Jenewein (Mike Monigold) and a nephew, Dale Jenewein (Brenda Craig); his lifelong friend, Bill Davis, his sister-in-law and dear friend, Joan Jenewein; also several cousins, friends and neighbors with whom he loved to spend time and share stories. A special thanks is to be given to the Beamer and Fuchs families for their help and kindness that has been shown to Hillis over the years. Visitation will be held May 28 at Wilson Funeral Home, Harper Chapel Beallsville where funeral services will be held May 29 with Hillis’ good friend and neighbor, Mike Fuchs officiating. Burial followed in Beallsville Cemetery.
