David B. Hanes, a loving father, son, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 63. Known for his big heart and even bigger spirit, Dave was a man who lived life on his own terms, with a smile on his face, and often seen with his jeans unzipped.
 Born on March 20, 1961, Dave grew up with a deep love for the outdoors and the Cleveland Browns. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or cheering for a losing team, he found peace and joy in his hobbies. His passion for adventure and the wilderness was something he shared with everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of countless hunting trips and outdoor escapades. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #2247 and Eagles Lodge #2302, and a member Carpenters Union Local #639.
 Despite his questionable driving skills, which often left friends and family clinging to their seats, Dave had a knack for making people laugh and feel loved. His infectious humor and genuine care for others made him a cherished companion and an unforgettable presence in the lives of many.
 He was preceded in death by his father William B. Hanes and his brother Joseph Bruce (JB) Hanes.
 Dave is survived by his two daughters, Rayelynn and Lakelynn, who will miss him dearly; his mother Betty Crim Hanes of Barnesville, sisters Debbie (Mike) Lucas of Barnesville and Vickie Rome of Barnesville, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a network of extended family and friends who will forever remember his warmth, kindness, and unique quirks.
 Friends were received from 2 – 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7 at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul Street, Woodsfield, Ohio, where funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, with Alex Davidson officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Ceme­tery Woodsfield.
 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dave Hanes Memorial Fund to reflect his love for his daughters Rayelynn and Lakelynn, c/o Citizens National Bank, 143 S. Main St., Woodsfield, OH 43793.
