David A. Gibson, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Stellar Care Center in Woodsfield, Ohio. Dave was the son of the late Edith (Sloan) Couture of Woodsfield and was born on August 6, 1949, in Malaga, Ohio, and grew up in Woodsfield, graduating Woodsfield High School in 1967.
Dave, known to some as “The Golden Voice of the Ohio Valley”, developed a love for music at a young age and began playing in his first band in high school with some of his best friends. He was the lead singer for several bands over the course of his seven decades, including: The Electrons, New Blood Band, Ludgate Circus, Southeastern, and Cruel Caliber.
In addition to his mother Edith, Dave was preceded in death by his wife of over three decades, Patricia Hossman Gibson, brothers-in-law Charlie Crooks and George Ruckman, and two “brothers” Jim Hill and Keith Hedrick.
Dave is survived by his children, Michael Gibson of Los Angeles, Calif., David (Leigh) Gibson Jr. of Delaware, Ohio, Joshua (Amber) Gibson of Denver, Colo,, Savannah Gibson (James Froehlich) of Paden City, W.V., and Logan Gibson of Woodsfield; grandchildren, Ava, Cadence, Andrew, Theoden and Roary; mother-in-law Bertha Hossman; sisters-in-law Carol Crooks, Linda Ruckman, Karen (Chad) Hughes; brother-in-law Jerry (Darla) Hossman, all of Malaga, many nieces and nephews, and his “brother” Chuck Schwaben.
Private services will be held for immediate family at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery Miltonsburg, Ohio. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to Crossed Paws Animal Shelter 41383 Stonehouse Rd., Woodsfield, or flowers to Stellar Care Center in Woodsfield.
