Shelva J. Briggs, 81, of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at her home. She was born July 22, 1943, a daughter of the late Harry and Alice Cline Truax.
Shelva was a 1961 graduate of Woodsfield High School. She went on to receive her RN,CEN in nursing. She worked at Barnesville Hospital for over 50 years and after retirement had served on the Monroe County Board of Health. She had also participated in Operation Smile in Managua, Nicaragua. Shelva also loved sewing and shared that love with family and friends, giving them many handmade pillows over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Chuck) Everett Briggs 2006, and brother, Daniel L. Truax.
She is survived by her children; Chris (Diana) Briggs of Pickerington, Ohio, Chad Briggs of New Concord, Ohio, Kay (Bryan) Mellott of Clarington, Ohio, and Stacey (Jim) Lehman of Powhatan Point, Ohio, brother; Richard Truax of Jackson, Ohio, grandchildren Derek, Tiffanee (Josh), Mitchell, Madison, Emma, Cooper, and Blair, two great-grandchildren; Jackson, and Kimber, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received from 2 – 4 and from 6 p.m. until a time of sharing and remembrance at 8 p.m. Monday January 20, 2025, at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield.
