Sharon “Shay” (McConnell) Harris, 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Nevada, Mo., on January 17 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on April 6, 1945, in Woodsfield, Ohio, to Edwin and Vera (Ault) McConnell. She graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1963 and was married to Dick Harris on December 29 of the same year. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Wayne (Betty) McConnell, Darlene (David) Werner, Willard “Bid” (Linda) Mc Connell, and Dale McConnell. Besides her husband of 61 years, she leaves a daughter Kathy Wyers and twin sons: Kevin (Christine) Harris and Kent (Kelly) Harris, plus five grandchildren: Kayleigh (Jim) Rose, Regan Rossiter, Adeanna Mason, Clayton Harris, and Jaxton Harris, and seven great-grandchildren: Miranda, Hunter, Myrissa, Carter, Braylon, Bentley, and Hayleigh, plus a sister-in-law Linda McConnell, two aunts: Donna Ault and Naomi Ault, plus several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her body was cremated per her wishes. A memorial service will take place in Ohio at a later date.
