Alma Jane “Janey” Williams, 79, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023, with her family at her side.

Janey was born on June 10, 1943, and was the daughter of Clyde and Etta Howell.

She was a devout member of the Church of Christ at Merrill Ridge and a selfless, loving mother and grandmother. Janey loved her family, flowers, receiving cards, cardinals and her grand puppies. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports, even if she accidentally cheered for the wrong team.

Janey is survived by her children, Tim (Jessica) Williams, Jamie (Denise) Williams, and Suzy (Dale) Schofield; and by her grandchildren, Alden and Graham Williams, James and Nick Williams, and Scott (Maria Pfaff), Rachel, and Kristin Schofield. Also surviving are her siblings, Gerald Howell, Donna (Tom) Hall, and Bobby (Elaine) Howell. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Janey graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1961. She worked at The Marietta Times for numerous years and retired from Ash Hanson Flower Shop after working there 25 years.

Janey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Larry Williams; and her brother, Clyde Howell, Jr.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, with Kent Parks officiating. Burial followed in Low Gap Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, March 31, 2023, at the funeral home.
