Arthur Ray Hall, 90, of New Matamoras, Ohio, died at 7:30 a.m. on May 28, 2024.
He was born on September 5, 1933, in Wingett Run, Ohio, the son of Henry Eugene and Nellie West Hall. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, Ohio. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army in Germany. After an honorable discharge he attended and graduated from Allied School of Mechanical Trades in Chicago then worked for General Motors in Columbus. In 1959 he went to work at Olin Mathieson in Hannibal (Ormet) where he retired with 37 years of service. He was a member of United Methodist Church since 1960 and served as trustee for many years. He was also a member of United Steelworkers of America no. 5760, and lifetime member of VFW Post no. 6387 of New Matamoras where he served as Commander from 2021 to present. He was inducted into the Washington County Veterans Hall of Fame in 2021 and also awarded the Quilt of Valor in honor of his service in 2023. He loved tinkering on his cars, tractors, and spending time with his friends and loved ones.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ann Weddle Hall, whom he married July 12, 1958; two daughters, Tawnya Amos and her husband Randy, Tarinda Walters and her husband John, and one son Trenton Hall and his wife Jill. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Anthony (Jill) Amos, Krista (Jason) Thomas, Kayla (Tyler) Dixon, Kelsey Martin, Madison (Drew) Schneider, Landon (Ashley) Martin, Austin Hall (Arianna), Dylan, Lakin and Jensen Hall; 17 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Cruz, Jett and Lexi Amos, Jase, Kiauna, Aidon, Biaunca and Christian Thomas, Ainsley, Dayne, Roman and Rhett Dixon, Malcolm and Claire Sullins, and Hallie and Emilia Schneider; two sisters: Manota Thompson and Susan Almond; three brothers: Myron, Ron and Darrell; one sister-in-law – Ethel Hall; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mae Weddle and six brothers: Eber, Daniel, Dean, Blaine, Foster and Byron.
The family will receive friends 4 – 8 p.m. Friday, May 31 at United Methodist Church, New Matamoras. Service will be Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at the church with the Revs. Dennis Williams and Rob Zimmerman officiating.
