Betty Lee Davis Lucas, 93, of Lewis Center, Ohio, formerly of Beallsville (New Castle Community), passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at her residence. She was born June 5, 1932, in the house that became the “Old Homeplace” near New Castle to John and Ellen (Kinney) Davis. Though she never graduated from high school, she received a doctorate from University of Life and she spent her life showing people how to achieve satisfaction throughout her many years. Her greatest memories and ultimate sacrifices were experienced in the Gold Star Mother’s Organization. She attended MANY of their functions and yearly conventions throughout the years. Her second love was The Ohio State Buckeyes. She attended Rose Bowls, Fiesta Bowls, and had lots of stories to share regarding her support of the Buckeyes especially the football and Women’s Basketball teams. She always regarded her decades of work as the finance clerk for Wayne Township as some of the most rewarding years of her life. Though she had a successful career which included many hobbies, her greatest accomplishment was being a loving mother to her seven children – that’s what gave her the strength and courage to live each day to its fullest. There wasn’t a day that went by in her 93 years that she wasn’t talking to or talking about one of her kids, grandkids, or great-grandkids! She is survived by six of her children, Nancy Lucas of Worthington, Toni Kanzigg (Mike) of The Villages, Fla., Tim Lucas (Jill) of Corinth, Texas, Clint Lucas (Colleen) of New Freedom, Pa., Wade Lucas (Kristina) of Lewis Center, and Jodi Garrison of Sarasota, Fla. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara Rucker of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Betty was blessed with 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews ALL were important in “her world.” She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ellen Davis; her husband, Robert Lucas; her son, William Robert (Bobby) Lucas; a sister, Marie; a brother Richard, a daughter-in-law, Teresa; a son-in-law, Dwayne; and a granddaughter, Nicole. Visitation and funeral services were held Monday, June 16 at Wilson Funeral Home Harper Chapel, Beallsville. Condolences may be offered at www.harperfh.net In lieu of flowers and keepsakes, donations may be made to Beallsville Rally for Life, c/o Kathy Rees, 46270 State Route 556, Beallsville, OH 43716.
