Carl D. Hayes, 80, of Quaker City, Ohio, (Calais Community) passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at his home.
He was born near Calais on February 25, 1944, a son of the late David and Mary Christman Hayes.
He was a retired steelworker and a member of the Steel Workers Union; a retired employee of Mahle Corp., Caldwell, Ohio, and also a retired farmer and former owner of Hayes Excavating. Carl was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church, Lewisville, Ohio.
Carl enjoyed bowling and going to the casino at Wheeling Downs.
Surviving are wife Carol Cunningham Hayes whom he married on June 20, 1965; one son Carl David (Lovealee) Hayes of Lewisville, one daughter Tamara (Craig) Reynolds of Quaker City; two sisters, Marjorie Ryan of Searcy, Ark., Brenda Hiller of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother Timothy (Jo Ellen) Hayes of Cambridge, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, where Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, with Bill Abrams officiating.
Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery, Calais.
