Carol Ann Wells Riley, 93, of Cleveland, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, in UH St. John Medical Center, Westlake.
She was the devoted wife of the late George “Bill” Riley for 68 years; mother of Rebecca Groves (Keith), Bruce (Mary Beth), Philip, and Brian (deceased); and grandmother of Sara Groves (Fred Ayers) and Adam Groves (Sara Luttfring), Donovan, Spencer, and Maureen Riley; and great-grandmother of Katharine Groves.
Carol was born April 24, 1929, in Malaga, a daughter of the late Dory and Florence Murphy Wells.
She is survived by a sister, Rosalyn Fowler and brother, Larry (Sandy) Wells; a sister-in-law, Beverly Kress; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Eleanor; brothers, Myron “Butch,” David, and Terry Wells; sistersin- law, Virginia and Beatrice Wells; and brotherin- law, Frederick “Ted” Fowler.
Carol was a member of the Eastern Star for 40 years and the White Shrine of Jerusalem for 30 years. She worshiped at the Broadview Road Church of Christ.
Visitation and funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at the Wilson Funeral Home-Harper Chapel, Beallsville. Interment followed in Beallsville Cemetery.
