Conservation Corner
A 2012 USDA Forest Service study titled, “Outdoor recreation trends and futures: a technical document supporting the Forest Service 2010 RPA Assessment”, indicates that Americans are favoring activities like wildlife viewing and photography over traditional activities like hunting, fishing and trapping. These changes in overall attitude toward outdoor activities have a direct impact on sales of hunting and fishing licenses as well as the supplies. ODNR has reported steady declines in hunting and fishing license sales since the 1950s and only 8% of Ohioans contribute to wildlife conservation through license purchases.

Monroe Theatre News
As new sellout entertainment is created and offered at the Monroe Theatre, long-range renovation projects continue to proceed further. With new volunteers joining the history- making endeavors, audiences and the local area are sure to benefit The Theatre’s “Price is Right” brought a new level of excitement to audiences and the Theatre’s second sold out crowd. This Theatre show was charged with an electric atmosphere that permeated the building. Thirty-two contestants competed for prizes during the game and seventy-two individuals won higher- end door prizes from a variety of department, “big box” and other stores. The grand showcase was a travel package to Shadow Lake containing several amenities. Prizes not won will be part of the Theatre’s upcoming Big Ticket Raffle.
