A Second Look
The Board of Public Affairs of Woodsfield decided at a recent meeting to make their patrons a Pre-Christmas give of about $3,500 by canceling the November light bill due the tenth of December. This has been made possible by the generous use of current by patrons and prompt payment of bills.

Thoughts from the Bumpy Road
person I have met along the way is Helen Ring. She has worked very hard during her career to improve the lives of our county's disabled children and adults. Helen is retiring at the end of this month as the superintendent of the Monroe County Board of DD. She has had an exemplary career, moving up the ladder from teacher to director, and doing all of the jobs in between. Kudos to you, Helen, for a job well done. I’m sure you will find many things to keep you busy in this next stage of your life. Thank you again for all you have done and continue to do to help the special citizens among us. Because I have made this the year of taking care of myself, so I can last longer, the biggest problem being the lack of a good foundation, which started at the knees. March through June was working with the left knee time. Now it will be December through however long it takes to get the right knee cooperating. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about the 3 weeks of horrible pain that follows this surgery.

Letter to the Editor

A Second Look
Bob Moose, Roger’s eldest son, has a soft spot in his heart for the poor mailmen. “I’ve got an idea that will keep them dry when it rains,” says Bob, “and at the same time keeps both hands free.” He would take a hat like an old army helmet, cut off an umbrella and weld it to the top. So if the idea is adopted don’t be scared, they’re only mailmen — not men from Mars.
