HELLO, Table Talk friends and family.

Switzer and area news by Judy Reynolds, Connie Meyer and friend Robyn Lawson traveled with the Almost Heaven tour group to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to the Sight and Sound Theatre to see “DAVID!” The show was absolutely beautiful, and so moving! They stayed at the Bird in Hand Hotel and the next day had a guided tour of the Amish Country and stopped to shop at different places.

An enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Holiday, near Graysville, Saturday Oct. 11. The event was to celebrate Mrs Holiday’s birthday. There was a late hour lunch consisting of cake, pie, sandwiches and coffee.

Due to the construction in the square it has been impossible to keep going. Maybe the solution could be DON’T REPLACE THOSE PARKING METERS. As the others start failing, let people purchase them to plant in their flowerbeds, use as mailbox posts, or even light poles. Come on folks this is the age of recycling and Monroe County has a plethora of doit yourselfers. These parking meters are antiques! Maybe one of the current resale markets would like to purchase them to make a profit. Again how much money have these boxes truly generated in the past 5 years? HUMMMM.

He was the founder/ namesake of the town. According to their letterhead they were dealers in “Dry Goods, Groceries, Notions and General Merchandise.” All was not successful with this venture. Barnet Adamson was a man of honesty as in a letter written to his daughter, Isabelle, in 1903, he stated that at one time during the operation of this store, seven years in the 1890s, he was $2,000 in debt. By 1901, according to this letter, all debts were paid, and he had close to $300 in the bank. By 1901, Barnet and Priscilla Adamson had moved closer to New Matamoras, where he would die in 1910. (Excerpts from Adamson -Duvall and Related Families by Ree Adamson Fraelich) Barnett and John were half-brothers through their mother Nancy Smith Tice. John Solomon Tice (1866-1926) was the son of Solomon Tice III (1837-1868) and Nancy Smith Tice Adamson (1824-1912). Solomon Tice III was a son of Solomon Tice (1783-1864) and Rosannah Cline Tice (17931873). So, we have our Cline Family Connection through Rosannah, the daughter of George Cline (1740-1801).

The challenge of honoring both of my life roles – homesteader and parish minister – has reinforced how new technologies and old-timey skills really can work together.

So my second eldest daughter just turned 18.

Visiting with Ila Jean Baldwin over the weekend were Debbie Palmer, from Cadiz, and Darlene Baldwin and her granddaughter Chelsea Hogue and great-grandson Lane from Woodsfield.
