Caregivers Corner
may be experienced by your loved one due to the many people present. This place should be away from noise and commotion in case it is needed. An unfamiliar setting or faces may cause your family member to feel overwhelmed or exhausted. If the loved one resides in a care facility, consider having Thanksgiving there where, perhaps, your family member is most comfortable.


A Second Look
Miss Hildred Stafford, of the Monroe County Library, was guest speaker at the Kiwanis luncheon on Oct. 8. Miss Stafford told the group of the library’s need for additional funds to increase the usefulness of the library to the public and asked for support for the Library’s drive for a half-mil levy to be voted upon in the November election.

Conservation Corner
When a landowner has a forestry management plan written one of the common prescriptions to making a forest stand healthier is to control invasive species. Some common invasives that are found in forest stands include multiflora rose and Amur honeysuckle. Another common invasive that I often find along field edges or areas of disturbance is tree-of-heaven. The scientific name for tree-of-heaven is Ailanthus altissima. When talking to foresters or any other forestry professional they will use the name Ailanthus or tree-of-heaven.

A Second Look
Two seniors from Sardis High School have been elected by their classmates to compete with students from other high schools throughout the United States and territories for the 119 Pepsi-Cola Four-Year College Scholarship. The contestants chosen were: Doris Watters and Gladys Jones.

So much bloodshed! The Baller Pumpkin Wars of 2022 I never expected to be in a blood feud with a hospice provider, but it’s a matter of principle.
