Switzerland of Ohio Local Garden Club members met at the Monroe County Library for their April 19th meeting. Before the meeting they enjoyed the presentation of “Practical Ways to Use and Grow Herbs” which was given by the Master Gardener Volunteers of Monroe County. Garden club members learned the definition of herbs, learned how to grow and harvest herbs, and sampled some crackers, jellies and butters using herbs. They also received copies of these recipes to enjoy them at home. The Master Gardeners also talked about the role of herbs as pollinators, their placement in a garden bed and their use with other companion plants and how to use in decorations. Several Garden Club members were lucky winners of an herb to plant and enjoy at home.
