Seeking senior services for the riverfront

Senior services, but not for all? While the Generations Complex serves a purpose, it’s fair to question whether or not it is meeting the needs of all county seniors. The same could be said for the former Monroe County Senior Center, which was located on Home Avenue, also in Woodsfield, a convenient location for some area seniors, but what about those in the outlying communities. Two concerned seniors from the riverfront community of Sardis met with the Monroe County Commissioners Monday, March 18 to discuss those seniors who they feel are underserved through the current senior services structure.Sardis residents Shelley Hulsey and Becky Langsdorf wanted to discuss senior services for seniors like themselves who live a decent distance away from Woodsfield. For residents in Sardis, Hulsey said, the current location for senior congregate meals, the Generations Complex, located on Black Walnut Parkway off Moore Ridge Road, just outside of Woodsfield, is a 36- to 39-minute drive away.“We (residents of Sardis) might live the furthest away from Generations,” Hulsey said.
