Charles (Ed) Mathews

Charles (Ed) Mathews, 82 of Woodsfield, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Wheeling Hospital. 

He was born Feb. 2, 1938, in Fly, a son of the late Charles Franklin Mathews and Edna Shook Mathews.

He retired from the Monroe County Engineers with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Goudy Church of Christ. Ed enjoyed playing softball as a pitcher and bowling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Dean Mathews.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary Bigley Mathews, of Woodsfield; children, Mike (Annette) Mathews, of Ozark, Bonnie (Kim) Kilburn, of Miltonsburg, Diane (Fred) Houghton, of Cedaredge, Colorado, and Chuck Mathews, of Woodsfield; nine grandchildren, Samantha Miller, Brett Mathews, Cole Mathews, Michael Demoney, Robert Demoney, Christopher Demoney, Justin Kilburn, Alex Kilburn and Chelsea Coplan; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roger (Mary Joe) Mathews, of Woodsfield.

Friends were received Friday March 6, 2020, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield, where funeral services were held Saturday, March 7, 2020, with Paul Eddy officiating. Burial will follow in the Goudy Cemetery Woodsfield.
